Garden heroes: Star Jasmine

CONCRETE AND OLD FENCES

When we first moved in a couple of years ago it was all just concrete and old fences. So I replaced the fences. Then it was all just concrete and bright orange fences. There were two good decisions I made in the that first year.

Paint your fence

Be brave.I fumbled over what colour for ages, did patch test after patch test, was all over Pinterest and Google for inspiration and then BAM! I did it... and have never looked back. The colour of your fences will affect the general look and feel of your garden a lot. So do this first, before you commit to any colour scheme, including the colour of your planting.

Buy a Star Jasmine

Find the biggest pot you have and buy the biggest Star Jasmine you can afford. Give it a nice sunny spot, something to climb up and you will be handsomely rewarded. Mine grew really quickly, covering the horrible old fence panel with year round greenery and the most wonderful scent and flowers in June/July.

A total 'fence panel covering, sweet smelling' hero.
